IRCTC Selection Process

• Selection is based on a merit list derived from matriculation exam scores (or grading system averages).
• If candidates have the same marks, preference is given based on age and then the date of passing the matriculation exam.
• No written tests or interviews are conducted.
• Final selection depends on the verification of original documents.
• Stand-by candidates are considered in case of absentees or rejections.
• Selections are made strictly in order of merit.
• Shortlisted candidates should be ready for document verification on short notice.

Documents To Be Submitted

1. 10th and ITI standard mark sheets.
2. Graduation Degree & Marksheet (if applicable).
3. Proof of date of birth certificate.
4. Consolidated ITI mark sheet or Provisional National Trade Certificate.
5. National Trade Certificate (NCVT/SCVT) or Provisional Certificate.
6. Caste certificate (for SC/ST/OBC applicants).
7. Disability certificate (for PwBD applicants).
8. Discharge Certificate/Serving Certificate (for Ex-Servicemen quota).
9. Recent color photograph in specified format.

General Instruction

1. The decisions made by IRCTC regarding eligibility, application acceptance/rejection, and selection method are final.
2. No correspondence regarding engagement will be entertained.
3. Any form of canvassing will lead to disqualification, and correspondence will not be entertained.
4. Failure to produce required original documents or any discrepancies will result in the cancellation of candidature.
5. Applicants called for document verification will not receive daily or conveyance/traveling allowances.
6. Requests to change the trade after selection will not be entertained.
7. Selected applicants will only be trained for the trade they were selected for.
8. Applicants selected for training cannot withdraw from training unless for reasons beyond their control.

Important Advisory:

• Selection is solely based on merit, and IRCTC has not appointed any agents to act on its behalf.
• Impersonation or submission of forged/fake certificates will result in disqualification.
• Applicants should not attempt to use political or other influence to benefit their engagement, as it may lead to rejection of their candidature.
• In cases where applicants have the same marks, preference will be given to the applicants who are older in age. This means that older applicants will be considered first.
• If the dates of birth are also the same for multiple applicants, then the applicants who passed the matriculation (high school) exam earlier will be given priority.
• It is mentioned that there will be no written test or viva (oral interview) as part of the selection process.
• The final selection of applicants is contingent on the verification of their original testimonials, which likely includes educational and other relevant documents.
• There is a provision for a stand-by list. Candidates on this list will be considered for selection only if there are absentees or if candidates from the main merit list are rejected.
• Offers will be issued to candidates strictly in the order of merit. This means that candidates with higher merit will be offered positions first.
• Shortlisted candidates should be prepared to report to the concerned office for document and certificate verification at short notice.
• Details about the training period for different trades can be found on page 1, and selected candidates will receive a stipend during their training, based on the prescribed rate and existing rules.
