Indian Army TGC Eligibility

• Nationality: You can apply if you are an Indian citizen, a Nepali subject, or a person of Indian origin who migrated from specific countries with the intent to settle in India. Some might need a certificate of eligibility.
• Age: You must be between 20 and 27 years old as of July 1, 2024.
• Education: You’re eligible if you have an Engineering Degree or are in the final year of your Engineering Degree course. Final-year students must provide proof of passing by July 1, 2024, and produce the Engineering Degree Certificate within 12 weeks of starting training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA). Failure to do so results in additional obligations for training costs.

Indian Army TGC Commission and Training

• Commission: Selected candidates start as Lieutenant on probation from the course commencement date or reporting date at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, whichever is later. They receive full pay and allowances during training, which are paid upon successful completion.
• Permanent Commission: After completing training, candidates are granted a Permanent Commission in the Army as Lieutenants.
• Ante-Date Seniority: Engineering Graduates of TGC Entry are given one year of seniority from their commission date as Lieutenants.

Training:

• Candidates undergo training at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, for approximately 12 months.
• During training, candidates are not allowed to marry or live with parents/guardians. Marrying during training results in discharge and repayment of training expenses.
• Training costs at IMA, Dehradun, are covered by the government. If a candidate withdraws for personal reasons, they must repay the training costs.

General Instruction

• Centre Allotment: After shortlisting, candidates will receive an email informing them of their Selection Centre. They must then log in to select their SSB interview dates, initially on a first-come, first-served basis, and subsequently as allotted by the Selection Centres.
• Selection Centres: Interviews will be conducted at specific Selection Centres in Allahabad, Bhopal, Bangalore, and Kapurthala. Call letters for the SSB interview will be sent to the candidate’s registered email and via SMS. The Selection Centre allocation is at the discretion of the Directorate General of Recruiting, IHQ MoD (Army), and no change requests are accepted.
• Two-Stage Selection: Candidates go through a two-stage selection process. Passing Stage-1 leads to Stage-2, while those who fail in Stage-1 are sent back the same day. SSB interviews typically last five days, with details available on the official website.
• Medical Examination: Candidates recommended after Stage 2 undergo a medical examination.
• Joining Letter: Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit will receive a Joining Letter for training in order of merit, based on the available vacancies and eligibility criteria.
