AFMS Medical Officer Recruitment 2023 Eligibility criteria
Qualification
- The applicant must have a MBBS Qualification recognized under the National Medical Council Act, 2019.
- They need permanent registration from a State Medical Council, National Medical Commission (NMC), or the Medical Council of India (MCI).
- Postgraduate degree holders must have their degrees recognized by the State Medical Council, National Board of Examinations (NBE), or NMC to apply
Internship Completion
- Only candidates who have completed their internship on or before August 31, 2023, are eligible to apply.
Age Limit
- The age limit for applicants varies based on their qualifications:
- For MBBS degree holders, the maximum age is 30 years (only those born on or after January 2, 1994, are eligible) as of December 31, 2023.
For PG degree holders, the maximum age is 35 years (only those born on or after January 2, 1989, are eligible) as of December 31, 2023.
Method of Selection
- Shortlisting based on NEET PG exam marks, converted to 200 marks.
- Candidates called for interviews, up to 8 times the number of vacancies.
- Interview location: Army Hospital (R&R), Delhi Cantt.
- Physical & Medical Standards assessed, including a Special Medical Examination.
- Pregnancy after the interview renders the candidate TEMPORARILY UNFIT.
Merit List
- Minimum 50% marks required in the viva-voce.
- Merit list based on NEET PG marks (proportionately converted) and viva-voce marks.
- Medically FIT candidates issued joining instructions.
Employability
- Doctors may be posted anywhere in India or abroad, as per service requirements.
- May work independently in assigned units.
Emoluments
- Rank of Captain or equivalent.
- 10B level of Defence Pay Matrix with BP Rs. 61,300, MSP Rs. 15,500.
- HRA, NPA, Transport Allowance, Dress Allowance, Dearness Allowance.
- Ration or ration allowance, subsidized accommodation, PG allowance or specialist pay for PG degree holders.
- Annual Leave, Casual Leave, LTC, free Medical Services, Group Insurance, and CSD facility.
Promotion for SSC Officer
- Eligible for promotion up to the rank of Major (or equivalent) after four years of service, subject to eligibility criteria.
- Additional medical qualifications may grant ante date seniority.
Tenure of Engagement
- Fresh candidates: Initial SSC tenure of five years, extendable up to nine years.
- Ex-AMC candidates may be eligible for a fresh tenure.
- Candidates released after ten years of SSC service not considered for commission in AFMS.
