Recruitment Information

Mode of Selection: Railway Vacancy 2023

i. Merit Basis:

• Candidates will be selected based on merit, which is determined from the information provided in the online application form.
• If a candidate provides incorrect details, their application will be canceled upon discovery of the discrepancy.

ii. Document Verification (DV) Selection:

• A select list for Document Verification (DV) will be prepared based on the average marks obtained in Matriculation and ITI.
• Merit lists will be prepared for each trade, unit, and community separately.
• There won’t be a centralized merit list.

iii. Merit Calculation:

• The merit is calculated by taking the average of the percentage marks obtained in both Matriculation and ITI exams, giving equal weightage to both.
• For example, if a candidate scored 80.58% in Matriculation and 91.68% in ITI, their merit would be (80.58 + 91.68) / 2 = 86.13.

iv. Tie-Breaker:

• In case two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate will be preferred.
• If the dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed the matriculation examination earlier will be considered first.

v. Document Verification (DV):

• 1.5 times the notified training slots in each community will be called for Document Verification (DV) to account for absenteeism and rejections.
• Candidates selected for training will be based on community-wise merit and adherence to other prescribed criteria, such as medical fitness and verification rules.

vi. Selection for One Unit:

• Each candidate will be selected for training in only one unit of Eastern Railway based on their community-wise merit and available training slots in their chosen trade.

vii. Final Decision:

• In case of any disputes, the decision made by the Railway Administration will be final.

Eligibility Conditions :

A. Age Requirements: Railway Vacancy 2023

• Candidates must be between 15 to 24 years old at the time of application.
• Age proof should be from a government recognized source like the Matriculation certificate or birth certificate.
• Age relaxations:
  • 5 years for SC/ST candidates
  • 3 years for OBC-NCL candidates
  • 10 years for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates
  • Additional 10 years for Ex-Servicemen (with certain conditions)

B. Educational Qualifications:

• Candidates should have passed the 10th class examination or its equivalent with at least 50% marks.
• They should also have a National Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by NCVT/SCVT.

C. Medical Fitness:

• Candidates need to meet the minimum physical fitness standards as per the Apprentices Act, 1961.
• A prescribed medical certificate, signed by a government authorized doctor (Gaz.), is required during document verification.
